Our Redeemer Lutheran Church & School

Church Governance

The Voters' Assembly has the final responsibility for the governing of the congregation in accordance with the Bible.  The Assembly meets on the second Monday evening in the months of February, April, June, August, October and December.  Any confirmed member of our congregation (age 18 or older) may become a member of the Voters' Assembly.

The Church Council is made up of the executive officers of the congregation and the chairpersons of the various boards.  It is a planning council and is responsible for coordinating and administering the decisions of the Voters' Assembly, as well as acting in the event of an emergency.  The executive officers are elected by the Voters' Assembly.

Boards
The majority of the work of the congregation is done by the various boards.  They are to create, carry out, and oversee the activities and duties assigned to them by the constitution.  The board chairpersons and members are elected by the Voters' Assembly.
The boards are:
  Elders
  Parish Education
  Day School Education
  Finance
  Stewardship
  Trustees
  Youth

Committees
From time to time committees are formed to carry out special tasks or to study specific needs of the congregation.
